Development of nonsteroidal selective agonists of ERS

 A postdoc position is open at CZ-OPENSCREEN: National Infrastructure of Chemical Biology (Institute of Molecular Genetics, Prague). We are seeking a highly and self-motivated candidate for multi-disciplinary project focusing on the development of selective ligands for estrogen receptor beta. The successful candidate will follow up on the recent discovery of unique nonsteroidal chemotype with high affinity and selectivity for ER?. The aim is to develop series of validated selective probes and a drug candidate based on diverse information types including receptor binding affinities, cell-based reporter gene activities, in vivo activities in transgenic reporter mice and structural models obtained from X-ray co-crystal structures of ligands bound to different nuclear receptors. Furthermore, lead ligands will be characterized by transcriptome analysis in relevant tumor models, especially hormone-dependent breast and prostate cancers and colon cancer. Finally, new therapeutic indications for this class of ligands will be explored including immunological and chronic inflammatory disorders.

Required skills/qualification:

• PhD in molecular/cell biology or related biomedical areas
• Well documented lab experience in biochemistry and molecular/cell biology.
• Basic knowledge and openness to learn in related areas of this interdisciplinary field: medicinal and organic chemistry, cheminformatics, biophysics and pharmacology, big data analysis
• Capacity to conduct research independently, develop new methods, adapt new techniques
• Teamwork skills, ability to collaborate with other team members, effective time management
• Ability to present and publish results of scientific work
• Independence, creativity, flexibility, abstract and critical thinking
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Salary and additional information: We offer competitive salary dependent on candidate’s experience. The contract is initially for 1 year with the possible extension up to 5 years.
