Responsibilities:

• Multidisciplinary experimental and theoretical work under supervision of more senior colleagues
• Experimental data analysis, formulation of conclusions, writing experimental reports
• Literature search on assigned topics
• Independent work on R&D projects (when fit for the task) related to human vision including development of intraocular lenses (IOL) correcting presbyopia, impact of different IOL designs on human vision and optical properties of biomaterials
• Maintenance of assigned laboratory equipment (e.g. optical analyzer, optical bench, microscope)
• Assistance with ensuring smooth operation of optical/optometric lab

Career path:

• Possibility of career growth to more senior R&D positions

Education and Experience:

• Tertiary education in optics, optical engineering, optometry, ophthalmology, biophysics or related field, PhD is a plus but not required  
• 3+ years of experience in research & development (including work on PhD thesis)
• Experience in optometry and/or optical design and analysis is a plus
• Practical experience with statistical analysis is an advantage
• Previous work experience in private sector is a plus

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong background in physics (especially optics), mathematics and data analysis
• Readiness to learn new skills and work in multidisciplinary environment

Excellent PC skills:

•  MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point….
• Origin, MatLab, statistical analysis SW…
• Optical design and analysis SW is a plus
• English level – B1/B2 at minimum
• Scientific literature writing
• Diligence, accuracy, reliability and personal integrity
• Ability to organize own work to achieve assigned tasks
• Independence combined with ability to recognize own limits
• Practical laboratory skills
