Influence of divalent cations on binding and structural properties of short nucleotides and their analogues

Project:  Influence of divalent cations on binding and structural properties of short nucleotides and their analogues

Research institute: Division of Biomolecular Physics, Institute of Physics

Description:
The grant project is devoted to the study on specific impact of divalent ions on the structural and hybridization properties of nucleic acids and their synthetic analogues. Main attention is paid to short nucleotides, which serve as molecular models in testing of the internucleotide linkage modification suitability from the point of view of potential chemotherapeutic utilization. This post-doc project is attached to the main project within the framework of which the nucleotide analogues will be prepared. The experimental approach is based on Raman spectroscopy, completed by other spectroscopic techniques whenever necessary. Methods of spectroscopic titration and temperature dependent spectral measurements are employed. In addition, complementary polarized Raman investigations of reference molecular single microcrystals of relevant nucleotides and their analogues will be carried out.
