Research Technician – flow cytometry and microscopy specialists

Form of employment: part-time job, fixed-term contract for 23 months- temporary
Job description: We seek a highly motivated individual to join an EU-funded research project within Cellular Signalling Laboratory that involves: operation of flow cytometers, sorter and light and confocal microscopes, methods validation and development, technical support for users, training of users.
Cellular Signalling Laboratory, headed by Dr. Karel Souček, is located at Department of Cytokinetics, Institute of Biophysics AS CR and provides a dynamic research environment with state-of-the-art facilities. Cellular Signalling Laboratory is a part of a unique interdisciplinary research platform - Centre of Biomolecular and Cellular Engineering (CBCE), which represents one of the research platforms of International Clinical Research Centre (ICRC). ICRC is a joint research centre of St. Anne´s University Hospital in Brno and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (USA) and links together pre-clinical basic research (e.g. in stem cell biology, cancer biology etc.) with clinical research (for more info see http://www.fnusa-icrc.org/en/). The CBCE platform focuses on research of biologically active small molecules and engineered proteins, which currently represent the most promising tools for influencing biological processes such as genomic cell stability, cell growth, cell differentiation, cell reprogramming to pluripotency, cell death, and cell survival.
Prerequisites for successful role performance:
- M.S. in biology, biomedicine with solid knowledge of principles of flow cytometry and microscopy, data analysis and interpretation
Professional requirements:
The experience of the applicant with flow cytometry, microscopy and basic methods of cell biology and other advanced techniques must cover the following:
- At least three years of experience as operator with BD FACS Aria sorter and DIVA and FlowJo software
- At least two years of experience as operator with BD FACSCalibur and BD FACS Verse and Attune flow cytometers
- At least three years of experience as operator with confocal system Leica TCS SP5 or equivalent and with standard epifluorescence microscopes
- At least basic experience with high throughput systems and data analysis using CellProfiler software
- In vitro cell cultures, direct and indirect immunostaining methods, multiparametric detections and analysis including data compensations
- Good level of communication in English language (verbal and written)
- Computers - MS Office, Statistica for Windows, Indesign, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat

Successful candidates should be highly motivated and have independent thinking, strong organizational and communication skills.
