Andaluská společnost hledá posklizňové technologie pro prodloužení trvanlivosti jahod

Datum: 2.4.2012

Technologie by neměla vyžadovat velké investice. Sdružení hledá technickou a obchodní spolupráci.

Description:

Despite of key role of varieties, ripeness at harvest and cultural practices in shelf life of strawberries, postharvest technologies may help to preserve quality of this freshly produced fruits.
Strawberries are one of the most perishable of fresh commodities. They are very fragile and susceptible to mechanical injury, their thin skin results in rapid loss of water in low humidity environments (3% loss of weight results in absence of gloss and toughening - Sanz, 2002). Strawberries have one of the highest respiration rates of all fresh commodities (100 mL CO2/Kgh at 20ºC). For all these reasons, consumption up to 5 d after harvesting is recommended by manufacturers.
Strawberry in south west Europe is mainly produced in Huelva. It is commonly harvested at ripeness stage of highest sugar content (75% of skin surface is red and firmness is high). Pickers carefully handle with it to avoid placing injured or diseased berries in trays and make a first assortment of different qualities. Forced air rapid cooling at 0ºC commonly precedes final handling and assortment in trays packed with macro-perforated plastic. Cool storing at 3-4 ºC is maintained till shipping.
After harvesting, the most critical factor to monitor for preserving shelf life of strawberries is temperature, but other technologies such as MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) and air/room disinfection with UV-C radiation or ozone can help to delay fruit softening and growth of decay-causing pathogens. These are of the company's interest, taking into special account solutions of rapid implementation and not requiring major investments. Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements of the request

Novel postharvest technologies that, combined with an appropriate temperature management, can help preserving shelf life of strawberry, for example:

UV-C radiation and ozone as disinfectants in colling facilities; MAP solutions for pallets.
